Lithuania here we come!

Avid readers of this blog will notice a glaring omission - yep, the final week of the 20/20 songwritng project came and went and NO SONGS got uploaded!

It's all because of some last minute planning that we had to implement for the Lithuanian trip that kicks off tomorrow morning. You see, some amazing doors have swung open which have required as much rehearsing as the team could cram in. Lunch times, evenings and most of Saturday were consumed.

Here's the background to it.

My 'local', Causeway Coast Vineyard have been busy sending teams out all over the planet this year and this trip is the last of this year - it was billed as an artists and musicians team and is aimed at serving the work of the Vineyard church in Lithuania.

During my liaising with Kel, the church leader there, he mentioned that it would be useful to have some publicity that might be appropriate for an open mic night in a local pub. A bit like Ireland, that's were culture and community often meet. I pointed him to the website for a virtual band idea that I have called A Perfect Stone might fit the bill (A Perfect Stone is the band name I use when doing music outside of regular worship settings even though in my opinion it's all worship, but that's a topic for another day!).

Anyway the premier Night Club/Music venue in the area heard about A Perfect Stone and booked us as well. Now that's great, the opportunity to weave worship into a set that's made up of both traditional and contemporary Irish material, but the problem is that we're not a band.

Our team is a collection of diverse musicians and artists who have never played together as a band, the main plan is that we are going to be doing our own thing in various settings including church, the local orphanage and arts and community events.

To cut a long story short we had to cram to put together a set of material that we could pull off in a top class Jazz venue, as a band of sorts!

So there's my excuse for not finishing my songwriting home work on time. When I get back I'll pull out all the stops and cross the finish line.

In the meantime, if you're the praying kind, I'd appreciate your prayers.

I'll have my trusty camcorder with me and I'll compile a video blog as we go.

In the meantime here's our billing at Club Kurpai on Fri 12th Oct http://www.jazz.lt/www/kurpiai/programa/
